The state of Victoria issued new gaming rules regarding responsible gaming for people playing on online casino´s. The government wants to intensify the amount of regulations regarding online responsibly gaming. The Victorian government wants to prevent gambling problems as much as possible. Therefore, some nu regulations are issued to minimize gambling harm across the Victorian state of Australia.

One of the new rules include the requirements for online gamling websites to send their customers a monthly overview of gambling activities during that period of time. So that the gamblers get confronted with their gambling activities. Moreover, customers should be able to refuse direct marketing materials more easily.

“This is another important step towards minimizing gambling harm across Victoria and online betting companies will be held to account if they don’t follow the directions,” said Mellisa Horen, Minister for Gaming and Liquor Regulation.

Earlier, the Victorian government issued new rules to regulate the Crown Casino Melbourne, after it failed to respect the responsible gaming guidelines from the government. The government put new power in place to have a tight supervision on the Melbourne Crown. Among these new powers are “laws providing inspectors greater access to books and surveillance equipment at the casino ”

“Liquor Control Victoria will provide the strongest possible level of industry oversight,” said Melissa Horne. “The VGCCC’s new powers will make a huge difference in reducing gambling related harm for all Victorians and ensuring the casino operates appropriately.”

This is all after the Crown repeatedly breached the gambling code. They failed in “adequately supervising or interacting with hundreds or possibly thousands of customers who exhibited signs of problem or risky gambling.”
