A new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) for the Star Casino in Sydney, Australia. Scott Wharton will be the new CEO for The Star´s operations in Sydney. Wharton will be the successor of the former CEO Greg Hawkins who stepped down last may following a review of the casino´s operations.

Scott Wharton, who is a former executive of the Commonwealth Bank of Australia, had experience in the turnaround and transformation of a company. Something that is highly needed by The Star Sydney due to the review that is going on for The Star.
The Star Sydney is under investigation for the following matters:
- Commitment to anti-money laundering responsibilities.
- Management of VIP Patrons.
- Use of China UnionPay as for Chinese gamblers despite Chinese currency restrictions.
- Management of exclusions of problem gamblers.
- Approach to gambling harm minimalization.
The new Wharton will have to lead the company through these investigations and will have to lead The Star into a new direction. “Scott has exemplary credentials as we drive a renewal program across the group. The work he led at CBA has been recognised as one of the most comprehensive reforms of corporate culture in Australia,” says The Star’s (interim) chairman Ben Heap.
“His leadership capabilities, expertise in delivering significant transformation working closely with regulators, together with his commercial skills and experience managing complex businesses, made him the ideal candidate to take on this key position within the organisation.
The Star Sydney is the second largest casino in Australia, After the Crown casino in Melbourne. The Star exists out of 2 casino floors, a bar, three restaurants and a hotel with over 350 rooms. On the two casino floors offer a range of casino games such as Poker, Roulette, Blackjack and dice games such as craps.
